NEET PG - National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) conducts the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduates (NEET PG) 2026 for admission to postgraduate medical courses in India. Through NEET PG 2026, candidates can apply for approximately 25,500 Doctor of Medicine (MD) seats, 13,000 Master of Surgery (MS) seats, and around 1,000 PG Diploma seats offered by more than 6,000 government, private, deemed, and central medical colleges across the country.

The NEET PG 2026 results are expected to be announced in July 2026, and the scorecard will be made available on the official NBEMS website natboard.edu.in. After the declaration of results, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct the NEET PG 2026 counselling for 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats, while the remaining 50% state quota seats will be managed by the respective state counselling authorities.

The NEET PG counselling process generally includes four rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round. During counselling, candidates must register online, pay the counselling fee, and choose their preferred colleges and courses. Seat allotment is based on the candidate’s NEET PG 2026 rank, choices filled, reservation policies, and seat availability.

The NEET PG 2026 exam will be conducted in computer-based mode. The exam consists of 200 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 3 hours and 30 minutes. According to the marking scheme, four marks are awarded for each correct answer, while one mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.

Candidates who wish to appear for NBE NEET PG 2026 must check the required eligibility criteria below. 

• A valid MBBS degree from an institution recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and an MBBS degree or provisional certificate to that effect. 
• Completion of the rotatory internship. 
• Provisional or permanent medical registration certificate issued by MCI or a State Medical Council. This must be carried out on the day of the exam and during admission.
• Candidates who have studied/qualified MBBS from Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible for All India 50% Quota seats. Only candidates who were nominated by the Government of India (under central pool seats) to study MBBS from medical colleges in Jammu & Kashmir shall be eligible for All India 50% quota seats. Such candidates must submit a duly signed affidavit declaring this.
• Applicants who have completed their MBBS degree from outside India must have qualified for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE)

NEET PG application form 2026 can be filled out in the steps mentioned below. 

• Visit nbe.edu.in and click on the NEET PG 2026 tab
• Click on the 'new registration' tab and enter the asked details. 
• User ID and password will then be sent through SMS and Email
• Fill out the application form: Personal Details, Qualification Details (MBBS / Primary Medical Qualification Details), Internship Details, SMC/MCI Registration Details, Test Center Details
• Upload a recent passport-size photograph (Maximum 80 Kb size, in JPG/JPEG format) and signature (Maximum 80 Kb size, in JPG/JPEG format).
• Choose test city
• Make a payment of fees in the online mode through debit/credit card or net banking.
• Take a printout of the filled-out application form with the transaction ID printed on it.

Important: Test City will be confirmed only after payment of the fee is successful.

NEET PG Correction Window 2026

With the help of the correction window, applicants will be able to edit some details in their NEET PG 2026 application form. The details that can be edited during the NEET PG correction window include

• Date of Birth 
• Gender 
• Category of the Candidate 
• Physical Disability Status 
• EWS status

The following details cannot be corrected in the NEET 2026 application form:

• Name of the Candidate 
• Mobile Number 
• Email ID 
• Testing City 
• Nationality

The NEET PG 2026 will be conducted in online mode for admission to Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Surgery (MS), and PG Diploma in government, private, deemed/central universities. Registered candidates will be able to download the NEET PG 2026 admit card by entering their user ID and password until the exam day. Upon downloading the admit card for NEET PG 2026, candidates will be required to affix a recent passport-sized photograph on the hall ticket.

• Click on the "applicant login."

The NEET PG 2026 cut-off is the minimum qualifying percentile required for candidates to pass the exam and become eligible for the counselling process. The cut-off is determined by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) based on several factors such as the number of candidates appearing for the exam, the difficulty level of the question paper, the total number of seats available, and overall candidate performance.

Generally, candidates belonging to the General and EWS categories must secure at least the 50th percentile to qualify for NEET PG. Candidates from the SC, ST, and OBC categories need a minimum of the 40th percentile, while PwD candidates from the General category must obtain at least the 45th percentile.

The exact cut-off marks vary each year depending on the exam difficulty and competition. Candidates who score equal to or above the required cut-off will be included in the NEET PG merit list and can participate in the counselling process for admission to MD, MS, and PG Diploma courses in medical colleges across India.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is the conducting authority of the NEET PG 2026 for admission to 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats, all deemed/central universities, and ESIC/AFMS colleges. On the other hand, the state quota seat allotment process will be conducted by the respective state counselling authorities. Only qualified candidates will be eligible to participate in NEET PG 2026 counselling.

• Universities established by an act of Parliament
• Deemed Universities

State-level NEET PG 2026 counselling include 

• State Quota Seats in Government/Private Medical Institutions in the State Institutions established by State. Govt.
• Universities established by an Act of State / Union Territory Legislature, Municipal Bodies Trust, society, Company or Minority institution
• Once the seats are allotted, aspirants need to provide an option for upgrading and also download the allotment letter. Thereafter, report to the allotted college with the relevant documents.
• Only the qualified candidates who will secure the minimum cutoff percentile will be required to register with the counselling bodies. Two rounds of NEET PG 2026 counselling will be held. 
• The mop-up round of NEET PG counselling will be conducted only for Deemed and Central Universities. Candidates allotted seats through NEET PG counselling 2026 will be required to report to the allotted colleges within the stipulated time for admission purposes.
