NEET MDS - National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MDS

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Science (NBEMS) will organize the NEET MDS 2026 to provide admissions to approximately 6,228 Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) seats in 259 dental colleges throughout India. The scores from NEET MDS 2026 will be used for admission to 6,501 seats, which include 50% All India Quota seats, 50% state quota seats, deemed/central universities, ESIC, and private universities.

The exam date for NEET MDS 2026 will be announced by NBE. They will also release the application form and information brochure for NEET MDS 2026. Medical graduates can submit their applications before the deadline. Registered candidates will have the opportunity to make corrections to their application forms through an edit window. After registration, the NEET MDS 2026 admit card will be issued to those who registered.

To take the exam, candidates must bring their hall ticket to the NEET MDS 2026 exam center, along with other necessary documents. The NEET MDS 2026 exam will be conducted in a computer-based format for three hours. The exam will consist of 240 multiple-choice questions, with four marks awarded for each correct answer and one mark deducted for each incorrect answer.

Following the exam, the NBE will release the NEET MDS 2026 results. The cutoff will also be published alongside the results. Candidates who pass the NEET MDS exam can participate in the counseling process. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will manage the NEET MDS counseling 2026 for 50% All India Quota (AIQ), 100% deemed/central universities, and ESIC/AFMS institutes. The seat allotment will be based on NEET MDS rank, college and specialty choices, available seats, reservation criteria, and other factors.

Practicing previous years’ question papers and mock tests is extremely important for success in NEET MDS. Regular mock tests help candidates understand the exam pattern, improve time management, and identify weak areas that require more attention. NEET MDS admit card 2026 will be available for registered candidates on the NBE official website. To download the NEET MDS 2026 hall ticket, candidates need to enter their user ID and password.

Once the admit card is downloaded, candidates must attach their photograph to it, as this is required for the exam. In order to fill the remaining vacant seats in the dental colleges of the country, DCI, in consultation with the health ministry, may lower the cutoff percentile and marks to provide opportunities to other candidates.

MCC is in charge of the NEET MDS 2026 counselling for 50% All India Quota seats, as well as seats in deemed and central universities, ESIC, and AFMC. Jammu and Kashmir do not take part in the central pool quota, so the state body manages the counselling for government dental college seats.

The authority will hold three rounds of seat allotment for AIQ seats, with an additional mop-up round for deemed, central, and ESIC colleges. To join the NEET MDS 2026 counselling, candidates must achieve at least the minimum cutoff percentile.

For the 50% state quota and private dental college seats, the state counselling body chosen by the state government will handle the seat allotment. The relevant regulatory bodies will conduct the counselling either online or offline. State MDS admissions involve application forms, merit lists, and seat allotment processes. However, candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria regarding domicile, age, nationality, and other requirements set by the state counselling authorities to apply for state MDS admissions.
